The £100,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund aims to support teams based in rural communities across the broadband company’s full fibre network, which spans 26 counties. After receiving funding, Witney RFC has been able to refurbish the gym and buy training equipment. It has also provided additional support by offering complimentary full fibre broadband in the clubhouse.
Chairman Bob Fisk said: “We’re grateful to the fund for helping refurbish our gym. And, now that we have a fast and reliable broadband connection at the club, we are finding that more and more parents are staying and using our full fibre broadband whilst their children train instead of feeling like they have to go home to work or stay connected.”
Fund ambassador Darren Gough said: “Since launching the fund, it has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support where it is needed most. It’s great to see much needed kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Witney RFC. I believe it will help make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future.”
Around 3,500 homes and businesses in and around Witney are now able to access Gigaclear’s full fibre broadband offering ultrafast speeds up to 900Mbps.
