Setting up your Linksys router

If your property already has a Gigaclear full fibre connection and we have sent you a Linksys Velop router, follow these instructions to install your router and activate your service.

If Gigaclear is being freshly installed to your property, there’s nothing for you to do. A Gigaclear engineer will install your router and activate your service for you.

1. Identify which type of wall-mounted Gigaclear fibre box is installed at your property, then go to the step shown and follow the instructions.

2. Please call our Customer Operations team on 01865 591131 and ask them to 'bridge' your service to complete your router upgrade. Please DO NOT proceed until you have done this. Bridging will take between 5 minutes and half an hour - the agent will advise you during your call. You may see the lights on the wall unit go off at certain points. Now go to step 3.

3. After waiting 30 minutes, ensure the Gigaclear wall-mounted box A or B is powered on, displaying lights beside the power symbol and the connection symbol, and that the WiFi light is off. Now go to step 5.

4. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws in the wall mount enclosure and pull away the panel. Now go to step 5.

5. With the ethernet cable supplied, plug one end into the Linksys router in the port labelled 'internet', and the other end into the correct port in your wall-mounted Gigaclear fibre box.

For box D only: Once you have connected the ethernet cable, route the wire around the housing enclosure so that it comes through the opening at the bottom. Replace the wall mount enclosure panel and fasten the two screws. Now go to step 6.

6. Connect the power cable to the 'Gigaclear powered by Linksys' router and turn the device on. The power switch is on the underside. Now go to step 7.

7. The light in the top corner of the router should start flashing blue. Once the light turns solid purple, the router will begin to configure itself. This will take up to 5 minutes. Now go to step 8.

8. Once the router has configured itself (which may take up to 5 minutes) and is connected to the internet, the light will turn solid blue. You can now connect your devices using the WiFi details shown on the label underneath the router.

If the router doesn't configure itself, you can initiate the setup using the Linksys app, or by pressing the RESET button on the underside of the router 5 times.
