Safety in your Community

As part of our business nature, we are controlling a range of sites in and around your communities. We have specialist Health and Safety teams available 24/7 to ensure that you and your neighbours are safe but sometimes issues may occur, and we will need you help in making us aware so that we can make the site safe again.
Below are a few examples of what you may come across however if anyone is ever in immediate danger, please call the emergency services as soon as you can.
Its always helpful to have an exact location when you contact us, and we would encourage you to use what3words to get a precise location:
Traffic Lights & Traffic Management
As we make our way around your community building our network, installing new customers, and maintaining the network we will need to use a range of traffic management equipment to keep our engineers and you, safe. To find the latest information on traffic management we recommend you look at www.one.network/uk all our sites will have job permit boards containing the works reference and who is completing the works.

Overhead fibre optic cable
Some of our infrastructure is installed on wooden telegraph poles meaning the cables carried are at height around your neighbourhood. Some infrastructure is on pole we don’t own so it is important to look at the markings and see who owns the pole, all of ours have GC engraved into the pole. If you have any concerns about the safety of a pole please call us, we will need to know the ID of the pole in question, i.e., CP 5. We also need to know if a pole is leaning at an angle so that we can have it stabilised.

A lot of our infrastructure is underground which means we must dig trenches to install our cables and ducting to a safe depth. We excavate in all types of ground, including the carriage way and footpaths. We will place barriers up to keep you safe and where possible will board the trenches to allow vehicles and you to cross safely.
