Standon & Puckeridge Hares FC Score Big with Rural Sports Fund Help
The £100,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund aims to support teams based in rural communities across the broadband company’s full fibre network, which spans 26 counties.
A set of goal posts have been netted by Standon & Puckeridge Hares FC to help the young footballers develop their shooting skills and encourage progression.
Club Chairman Chris Tye said: “Providing opportunities for children to play football at a reasonable cost in a safe environment, with secure equipment, is a priority for any grassroots football club. This is especially important with the cost pressures all parents face in these challenging times.
“At Standon & Puckeridge Hares Football Club we work with partners to help give the best possible experience for the many boys and girls who play for the club and we are super proud that we are now partnering with Gigaclear. Its Rural Sports Club Fund has allowed us to invest in new goals which are one of the biggest investments a grassroots team has to make. The goals will definitely help in ensuring that we have the appropriate equipment, whilst allowing us to hold the annual registration costs at a reasonable level.”
Fund ambassador Darren Gough said: “Since launching the fund, it has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support where it is needed most. It’s great to see so much kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Standon and Puckeridge Hares FC. I believe it will help make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future.”
The Hares Youth FC was officially formed in 2000 and partners with Ralph Sadleir School and the local Parish for use of the Standon and Puckeridge Community Centre facilities. A revised academy setup gives children the opportunity to develop their confidence before moving to competitive football.
More than 1,500 homes and businesses in Puckeridge and Standon are now able to access Gigaclear’s full fibre broadband offering ultrafast speeds up to 900Mbps.
