Ramsey Town FC Bowled Over by Sports Fund Help
The £100,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund aims to support teams based in rural communities across the broadband company’s full fibre network, which spans 26 counties.
Established in 1880, Ramsey Town FC is an historic Cambridgeshire club which has been competing in the PDFL league system for a number of years. It successfully applied to the fund to buy training equipment to help boost player development.
Ramsey Town FC Reserve Team Manager and Committee Member Ed Manchett said: “We’re extremely grateful to Gigaclear and Darren for the training equipment received from the rural sports club fund. The equipment, mainly mannequins and pop-up goals, has enhanced training sessions and enabled us to host sessions to larger groups since the introduction of our U18s team this year. The U18s and men train together using the equipment on a weekly basis as training as a whole group is part of our ‘one club’ philosophy.”
Fund ambassador Darren Gough said: “Since launching the fund, it has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support where it is needed most. It’s great to see so much kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Ramsey Town FC and I wish them every success in the coming season. I believe the fund is helping make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future.”
