Budding Ben Stokes and Heather Knights in Matlock have been given a boost towards achieving their dream thanks to a new sports fund backed by former England cricketer Darren Gough.

The fund has purchased kit for the U-11s team at Matlock and Cromford Meadows Cricket Club, sponsors a Kwik Cricket Schools Competition at the ground and offers a special Gigaclear affinity deal to the club supporters, family and friends.

Club Sponsorship Coordinator Steve Haslam said: “The discount offered by Gigaclear to members, and the support given to those breaking into hardball cricket has been excellent. The Player of the Month trophies are heavy enough to break a mantlepiece, and I'm sure will be something all players will aspire to winning. Successful teams come out of successful individual performances, and they are a great addition for the players".
