Hatfield Peverel Cricketers Bowled Over by Sports Fund Help
The £100,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund aims to support teams based in rural communities across the broadband company’s full fibre network, which spans 26 counties.
Hatfield Peverel Cricket Club was formed in 1885 and play fixtures at their ground in Church Road. They field several men’s and women’s teams and welcome players of all ages and abilities.
The club successfully applied to the fund to buy a new bowling machine to help boost their players’ performances.
Club chairman Frazer Smith said: “Everyone at the club was delighted when they learned that, thanks to Gigaclear’s Rural Sports Club Fund, we’ve been able to buy a new bowling machine!
“It’s such a tremendous asset for the club and will help us improve our batting averages. Our coaches are already planning to use it to work on technique, all the way from junior level up to seasoned pro.”
Fund ambassador Darren Gough said: “Since launching the fund, it has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support where it is needed most. It’s great to see so much kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Hatfield Peverel Cricket Club and I wish them every success in the coming season. I believe the fund is helping make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future.”
