Buntingford Cougars Bowled Over by Sports Fund Help
The £100,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund aims to support teams based in rural communities across the broadband company’s full fibre network, which spans 26 counties.
Established in 1971, Buntingford Cougars was, and still is, managed by local parents. It’s a community football club that welcomes young people of all abilities with the aim of bringing the best out of them. Teams range from under-6s to the Seniors, with most playing in the Royston Crow League.
Buntingford Cougars, who play matches on various pitches around the town, applied to the fund to buy new goals for their younger players.
David Deane, a Buntingford Cougars executive committee member, said: “The club is really grateful to Gigaclear's sports fund for providing Buntingford Cougars with new goals at the home our younger age groups, The Bury. They were much needed. Providing the youngsters with good quality equipment can really help boost player performance and their pride in the club.
“We are always happy to partner with companies such as Gigaclear who are committed to investing in grassroots sport.”
Fund ambassador Darren Gough said: “Since launching the fund, it has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support where it is needed most. It’s great to see so much kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Buntingford Cougars and I wish them every success in the coming season. I believe the fund is helping make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future.”
More than 2,700 homes and businesses in Buntingford are now able to access Gigaclear’s full fibre broadband offering ultrafast speeds up to 900Mbps.
