Gigaclear delivers full fibre broadband directly to your home. From there, you can connect your devices either by plugging them in with an Ethernet cable (wired) or wirelessly via WiFi.

A wired connection will always give you the fastest, most consistent speeds — ideal for gaming, video calls, or 4K streaming on a fixed device. WiFi gives you the freedom to connect from anywhere in your home, and with modern WiFi 7 technology in our eero equipment, speeds are fast enough for the vast majority of everyday task

Several factors can affect your WiFi signal quality: the size of your home, number of floors, thick internal walls, interference from electrical equipment, neighbouring WiFi networks, and the distance between your device and the router.

The best way to improve coverage is to add eero nodes in areas where signal is weak — that’s exactly what Smart WiFi is designed for. Placing your main eero in as central location as possible rather than tucked in a cupboard or corner will also make a noticeable difference. If you have persistent dead spots even with WiFi mesh, Ethernet cabling between eero units provides the most reliable method of getting WiFi to difficult parts of the home.

A WiFi mesh network enables much greater coverage and more consistent speeds throughout your home compared to a single router or WiFi extenders. It uses two or more WiFi mesh nodes that connect to all your WiFi-enabled devices and seamlessly manage handovers between them, so you always get the best connection possible — even as you move between rooms.

Smart WiFi mesh automatically connects your devices to whichever WiFi node provides the strongest signal, wherever you are in your home — so there’s no need for WiFi extenders. In fact, we recommend removing any existing WiFi extenders before setting up your Smart WiFi equipment, as they can cause interference and reduce performance.

Smart WiFi packages come with additional nodes which boost WiFi coverage and speed in the rooms that matter most. Nodes connect wirelessly to your main router to create a mesh network and are placed between the router and areas of poor WiFi to provide optimal coverage. The mesh setup means you’ll have one WiFi network (and password) throughout your home, rather than multiple networks in different rooms.

If your WiFi performance still suffers from environmental factors due to the construction of the property — for example, thick internal walls — you can hard-wire the router and any nodes with Ethernet cables to guarantee a stable connection between units.

Download the free eero app on your iOS or Android device. Sign in or create an eero account, then follow the in-app guide to connect your eero 7 or eero 7 Pro to your Gigaclear connection. If your package includes additional nodes, the app will help you place them for the best possible coverage. Smart WiFi mesh is designed to provide coverage throughout your home, but outbuildings, garages, and garden offices present a greater challenge due to the distance and physical barriers involved. Coverage in these areas is not included or guaranteed.

If you need reliable connectivity in an outbuilding, a wired connection is usually the most effective solution. Speak to a qualified electrician about running an Ethernet cable.

New Gigaclear customers receive an eero 7 router (a WiFi 7 mesh-ready device) as standard with every broadband package up to and including 600Mbps. Smart WiFi packages include additional eero 7 nodes to extend coverage across larger homes.

Customers with broadband packages greater than 600Mbps looking for maximum performance can receive the eero 7 Pro, which offers tri-band WiFi 7, ideal for larger or multi-storey homes, and more effective Wi-Fi mesh performance that’s better for homes with thick internal walls.

Existing Gigaclear customers are equipped with Linksys Velop hardware.

Your router is the unit connected directly to the fibre connection point (ONT) in your home, and is responsible for managing your internet connection. Nodes are additional units placed around your home that connect to the router to extend your mesh network and improve coverage.

With Gigaclear’s eero equipment, the router and nodes are identical hardware. Any unit can act as either, so there’s no need to worry about buying different products — simply add more eero devices if you need greater coverage.
