Gigaclear marks 15 years of connecting rural Britain with new funding secured to accelerate its network expansion plans.

Gigaclear, the UK's largest rural full fibre broadband provider, is celebrating its 15th birthday this month, marking a decade and a half of transforming digital connectivity for underserved communities across rural Britain.
As the company reaches this milestone, it has also secured its long-term financial position, securing at least £80 million in new funding from its consortium of existing banks. This financing ensures Gigaclear is fully funded to deliver its plans, reinforcing the commercial resilience of Gigaclear's rural strategy.
Since its founding in December 2010, Gigaclear has grown from a small rural broadband challenger into the UK's leading rural-focused altnet. Today, its full fibre network reaches more than c600,000 premises across 26 counties, with over 160,000 customers connected to ultrafast, reliable, FTTP broadband.
Nathan Rundle, Chief Executive Officer at Gigaclear, said: "For 15 years, Gigaclear has been committed to one clear mission: ensuring rural communities are no longer left behind. From our earliest builds to our rapidly expanding customer base, every milestone has been driven by that goal. As we look ahead, this new funding gives us a robust platform to continue expanding our network and deliver unparalleled connectivity to even more rural homes and businesses as well as further supporting the evolution of the business."
"There's still more work to do to close the digital divide but combined with our achievement of EBITDA positivity earlier this year and strong customer growth, this funding reflects a business that is financially secure, operationally robust and focused on sustainable long-term delivery."
Gigaclear was established with the aim of transforming the digital landscape in rural parts of Britain overlooked by commercial rollouts. Over the past 15 years, Gigaclear has delivered meaningful impact across the countryside, enabling residents and businesses to embrace remote working, digital learning, online services and new economic opportunities.
In 2025, the company expanded its network significantly under Project Gigabit, connecting more than 30,000 new premises, and is on track to achieve a 28% penetration rate. Gigaclear was also named Best Rural Fibre Provider at the 2025 UK Fibre Awards, underscoring its leadership in rural connectivity and long-term commitment to bridging the digital divide.
