Marlbourough Rugby Club are partnered with the Gigaclear Rural Sports Club fund
Whilst the history of rugby in Marlborough stretches back to the second half of the 19th century, with a team formed at Marlborough Public School, the current iteration of the club – Marlborough RFC – came into being in 1967.
In addition to Marlborough RFC’s men's 1st XV, who play in the Regional 1, South Central Division, the club has a vibrant youth section.
How Gigaclear is making a difference

We’ve supported the club's post-lockdown development, providing a new scoreboard and training equipment.

Marlborough Rugby Chair, Howard Wilkinson, said: "Gigaclear’s Rural Sports Club Fund has greatly helped Marlborough Rugby with our aim to get rugby back to where it should be [post-lockdown}.

“The pandemic and its associated 'lockdowns' meant that there was a significant fall in the number of people able to play sport and remain active right across the UK. Thankfully, grassroots rugby clubs like Marlborough weathered the storm and are now fighting back, particularly by developing their youth sections.”

“All of us at Marlborough Rugby are grateful for Gigaclear's support, especially as it has allowed us to provide more equipment and more rugby balls for our nearly 300 Minis and Juniors, and a new electronic scoreboard that really puts the Club on the map as a modern, serious, and competitive side.”

“Great to see the support Darren Gough is giving Gigaclear’s Rural Sports Club Fund. He might bowl fast - but he’s not as quick as our own speedster Callum Hunt!”

Does your rural sports club need our help?

The Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund has been set up to help rural sports clubs located in communities within Gigaclear’s broadband network area. Funds will be allocated at the discretion of Gigaclear’s Community Engagement team who will seek to ensure support is spread evenly across our build area.
