Our £75,000 fund to help rural sports clubs
Hear from our fund ambassador - cricket legend and Gigaclear customer Darren Gough:
At Gigaclear, we're all about championing the rural communities where we have built our full fibre network – giving them a helping hand to grow and prosper.
Local sports clubs are at the heart of rural communities. Yet balancing the books can often be a struggle. So, we’ve set up a £75,000 fund to help eligible clubs to purchase sporting equipment whether this be cricket bowling machines, rugby training kit or football training goals.
Gigaclear signs Darren Gough
Joining us on our mission to help give rural communities a sporting chance is cricketing legend and Strictly Come Dancing winner Darren Gough, our Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund ambassador.
Darren grew up in the small Yorkshire village of Monk Bretton and joined the local cricket club aged eight. Within two years he was in the first team. He also loved football, but with no local club nearby, his dad decided to help set one up, called Belmont FC. As a parent, Darren enjoyed watching his sons play in the rural setting of Winslow Town Cricket Club.

Some of the clubs we've helped already
Among the rural sports clubs already benefitting from the Fund are: Cinderford RFC, West Hallam Juniors Football Club, Witney Rugby Club, Matlock & Cromford Meadow Cricket Club, Marlborough RFC and Sherborne RFC. Here's what two of them have to say:
The Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund has been set up to help rural sports clubs located in communities within Gigaclear’s broadband network area. Funds will be allocated at the discretion of Gigaclear’s Community Engagement team who will seek to ensure support is spread evenly across our build area.
