Gigaclear enables 20,000 live premises in the East of England in one year
Gigaclear, the UK’s largest rural alt-net, has connected a further 20,000 premises to its network in the East of England this year, taking the total number of premises who can access the ultrafast service in the area to, 34,000.
Gigaclear is now in the advanced stages of expanding its network to provide its services to thousands more premises in the counties of Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire over the next few years.
Predominantly focusing on bringing ultrafast broadband to rural locations across the UK, Gigaclear has most recently invested in market towns, in a move which builds a resilient network that is both gigabit capable and scalable. Live services are already available in the Essex towns of Witham, Halstead, Epping, Chigwell, Chingford, Stansted Mountfitchet, Great Dunmow and Braintree.
Tony Smith, Gigaclear’s Regional General Manager in the east of England said: “Welcoming an additional 20,000 premises to our network this year alone really demonstrates our commitment to grow Gigaclear’s future proof network in this region. We’re proud of this achievement and have seen excellent take up of our services so far. We look forward to bringing our ultrafast network to thousands more homes and businesses in the area.”
Braintree is Gigaclear’s largest network build project to date, targeting over 20,000 homes and businesses, and is due to conclude by the end of 2022. Over 50 percent of the pure fibre network is now built with a total of 6,500 live connections expected by the end of 2021.
More towns and villages in the region are due to be announced in 2022.
