The newly opened office, from which 60 Gigaclear staff members will operate, will support regional growth, and expand the company’s base in the West of England in line with the increased scale of its broadband network.

The staff based at the Staverton hub will be responsible for designing Gigaclear’s ultrafast, full-fibre broadband network and the support of approximately 120 civils contractor staff who are building the much-needed new network across underserved rural areas in the region.

Jamie Flint, Gigaclear’s General Manager for the West, which covers Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, says, “We’re expanding our gigabit-capable, full-fibre broadband to some of the most remote and poorly connected areas of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, partially commercially but also in partnership with our BDUK partner, Fastershire. The pandemic has sharply underlined how important connectivity is and just how unfair it is for those left behind in areas where internet speeds are extremely poor. The new office in Staverton will act as a permanent hub for that work and create new jobs.

“Last year we operated out of a temporary base in Gloucestershire but that immediately accelerated our network build and so the team quickly outgrew that office. We’re pleased to be able to move into permanent premises that will accommodate our growth, we’re here to stay!   And we’re actually recruiting for a Designer Surveyor, Project Delivery Lead and an HSEQ Inspector as well so please get in touch if you’re looking for an interesting, challenging and rewarding career!”

As well as the positive economic impact, Staverton has benefited from Gigaclear’s increased presence in the area with its full-fibre gigabit-capable broadband network now reaching local homes and businesses, including Staverton Airport.
