1. How long have you been an engineer at Gigaclear?
    1. I first joined Gigaclear at the end of February to take on my first engineering role as an Installation Engineer. I’ve always been interested in becoming an engineer and Gigaclear has provided me with the opportunity and the training to try something new, which has been brilliant. I previously worked for a finance company, and to be able to do a role like this is great - I really enjoy it.

  1. What does a typical working week look like for you?
    1. Each day is different, which I love. Sometimes we install our customers via existing infrastructure, such as poles (pictured) which means we sometimes need to climb between 9 and 13 metres – something I never thought I’d do! I also get to travel to lots of different locations across the country and I get to see places that I wouldn’t normally be able to otherwise.

  1. What’s the best thing about your job?
    1.  The travel – I get to visit new places all the time. I’m also an outgoing person and I get to meet so many people through this role, which I love.

  1. Why is it important to celebrate Women in Engineering Day?
    1. It’s a great job to get into, especially in this industry and it’s important to recognise that more women are getting involved and that’s always worth celebrating. I was worried that the role would be quite physical and that I may not be able to carry out some of the tasks, but I can! And my team has been so supportive. Gigaclear has made me feel very welcome and I think it’s a company that I would like to work for, for a long time. There are plenty of opportunities here.

  1. What would you say to other women who are considering a role in engineering?
    1. I’d say go for it – 100 percent. It can be a bit daunting at first, but I am so glad I went for it. The training has been brilliant, and my team is great. It’d be great to have more female engineers and I reckon a lot of women would love it here – you get to experience so much more, and you can really make a career out of it. I’m learning all the time and I just love it.
